Tim Miller, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Arbury Ward in Nuneaton, has launched a campaign to axe the unfair Council Tax. Local residents have been showing their support by signing a petition to be sent to the government.
Commenting on the campaign, Tim Miller said "Labour and the Tories are arguing over who has increased Council Tax the most. However, they miss the main issue: Council Tax is an unfair tax and should be scrapped. We want to replace it with a fairer system where your payment is based upon what you can afford."
Under Liberal Democrat proposals:
- over half of pensioners would pay no Council Tax at all;
- councils could not raise tax as a result of their failures.
